RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood believes Rugby League stands on the verge of the most exciting chapter in its history as the sport prepares to embrace all the benefits of summer rugby with a new integrated structure.
From this Saturday, the first grassroots competitions will join the Stobart Super League and Co-operative Championships in kicking off seasons that will face minimal disruption from harsh British winters.

Sheffield Eagles centre Menzie Yere would love to see the England team play an international match in his homeland of Papua New Guinea.
Although rugby league is the national sport of PNG, it is a long time since any of the major test-playing nations visited its shores, with Australia last playing in Port Moresby in 2004. The last time Great Britain played an international in PNG was in 1992.

These are collected in store and also at the petrol station at stores across the country. Bradford Bulls scrum-half Luke Gale will have an operation on his injured ankle this weekend and is expected to be out for up to eight weeks.
Gale sustained the injury in the opening minutes of the game against Wigan and after waiting for the swelling to go down and seeing a specialist it was decided an operation was neccessary.
Bulls football manager Stuart Duffy said today: “We are really disappointed for Luke but it’s better he has the operation now so as to give him the earliest chance of returning to the side.”
