I think that performance should finally put to rest any question marks about the fitness of our players.
A short turnaround after playing a side who have recently won the NRC and went top of the Championship,to playing the current Grand Final Winners who last year were allowed to exceed the salary cap, have been coached by the guy who coached them to that success and also coached by Brian Noble who played and coached Bradford Northern/Bulls to a whole slew of trophies before being allowed to spend a world record on prop Fielden at Wigan and also coach Great Britain.
Not a bad victory Mr.Woods ! Well done to you and Dicko and of course, the players led by Captain Marvel,Alex Benson.( It was Alex who showed a great turn of pace near the end to make that valuable tackle in front of the Mayfair Security Stand, wasn't it ?) He has led by example all season and showed great fitness and determination.I thought Chris Thorman oozed class and having the brains back in the engine room meant the mentor and guide was back with his hand and foot on the tiller guiding the club to calmer waters.
For a first home game since the Squad Builder Fund was up and running it must have resulted in more people wanting to subscribe. We'll forget about the turning over of possession at the 2nd and 3rd tackle and the ridiculous knock-ons at the ptb's.
Fantastic team performance which for the first time demonstrated a mindset which failed to be altered despite the decisions made by the official.Wonderful focus !
I don't wish the players to remove that focus until the Presentation Night but for us,the supporters, who have it reasonably easy – apart from the frayed nerves – it is that on the 2 previous occasions YCK have enjoyed back to back wins it has straddled 2 separate months. At Toulouse and home to Dewsbury – April/May.
At Dewsbury and home to Batley – June/July.
Home to Halifax and away to Sheffield – August/September ?
Obviously playing at Brammall Lane,Sheffield will mean playing on a verdant pitch but surely the apparent inferiority complex has now been vanquished. We have just beaten the reigning champions of The Championship !
Once again, congratulations to all – please finish the job.
